Outsource your decision making process!
Why not? Seems these days everyone is outsourcing something. Why not outsource making a decision? Can't decide which car to buy for your college age kid? Ask me. Give me the particulars i.e., budget, @ miles driven annually, male or female, whether you care if they still love you for buying them a sky blue 1978 Ford Granada, etc., etc. and I will tell you the right car to purchase. How can I do this? Because I'm smarter than you! No, really, I am. All kidding aside, the truth is that according to my I.Q. test results, I have a logical mind. Great for solving puzzles, analyzing complex problems and making the correct decision. What people used to call "common sense." So, don't know what to make for dinner tonight? How many are you feeding? What's in the fridge right now? Can you follow a recipe? Is there someone you'd like to poison but not leave any evidence? Ask me, I'll tell you what to make. I'll even throw in a recipe! But not for poisoning. I have to draw the line somewhere. Has someone asked you to marry them? Can't make a decision? Give me the facts and I will give you the answer. Should you add a room to your house? Dormer or out the back? These questions and more can be answered. Trust me. Would I steer you wrong? Wanna buy some land in AZ.? Just kidding. So, what are you waiting for? Who else in this world is going to give you free, unsolicited advice? ME!! I await your quandary.

Great advice. Keep it coming.
ReplyDeleteThanks B, that's what I'm here for. R.
ReplyDeleteFree advice from someone who is unbiased... that could be invaluable. We can get free advice from family and friends, but can they be totally objective? So, here is my dilemma...I recently started a new job which requires a bit of daily travel by automobile—approximately 600 miles per week. I have a nice car which I still owe 3 years of payments on and I want it to retain as much of its value as possible, at least until it is paid for. BTW, some of the roads I travel on are private driveways with ruts, not enough gravel, etc. Should I buy a used vehicle with disposable cash on hand of $2500 or take out a loan and buy a newer, possibly more dependable vehicle? Also, can you suggest a few cars in the category that you recommend? Let me know if you need further information. L
ReplyDeleteDear L, thanks for the inquiry.Given the particulars that you have provided I have come to a solution. Considering that you have 3 more years to pay on an existing car loan, taking out another loan for a new vehicle is not cost effective. Unless, of course you are filthy rich. Which I assume you are not. Therefore, the best possible route for you is to buy the newest and best car that you can find with your $2,500. Ah, but which car? Considering the miles travelled per day and the added rough terrain, you will need a car with good ground clearance and good gas mileage. The perfect car for you is.....drum roll please.... a 1980 Eagle Summit. Just kidding! Actually, I have a few suggestions: A Subaru outback wagon with a 5 speed, a Geo tracker with low miles and a 5 speed, an Audi A4 with a 5 speed or a Honda CRV with a 5 speed. A thorough search on CRAIGSLIST should yield a few of those in your price range. Some will be models in the late 90's while some will be models of the early 2000's. Take all possible candidates that you find for a test drive and ask for all service records(if any) that pertain to each vehicle. You best gas mileage will come from a standard shift so a good clutch is what you seek. Best of luck, Ray
ReplyDeleteOk Here's my problem. I want to get rid of squirrels that are raising havoc in my yard. They run on my roof - they make a mess - what can I do to get rid of them! PERMANENTLY - like kill them sort of way. Poisoned meatballs??? what, HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joan Berrios!
ReplyDeleteDear Joan, after consulting with the experts I have a few solutions but they will require some work on your part. The best way to get rid of them is with traps. Small steel cages work best. These can be rented from rental places and may even be rented from pet supply stores. You may also purchase these at the big box home store that rhymes with lowes. Once you trap them you will have to relocate them to a new neighborhood. Make sure you blindfold each one so they won't be able to find their way back. Also, a one-way bus ticket to detroit works just as well. If all else fails, buy a dog and keep him in the yard. I wish there was an easier solution but other than a BB pistol, trapping them is the only real solution. Best of luck, Ray.
